Do you work in the audiovisual sector and need a drone with cinematic specifications for your upcoming shoots?
The new DJI Mavic 4 Pro has arrived with an ambitious proposition, not only evolving from the Mavic 3 Pro Cine, but also introducing a different philosophy that aligns more closely with today’s demands for professional and multiplatform content production.
At BeeDrone Record, a production company specialising in audiovisual services with drones, we closely follow every innovation that transforms the way filming is done in professional environments. That’s why we’re already assessing its integration into our drone fleet to offer the best technology to our clients in audiovisual projects across Spain.
One of the most notable features is the native 6K vertical recording, designed for social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels. This eliminates the need for reframing in post-production, making it easier to deliver 9:16 format content. Although not all professionals may see this as a priority, for digital campaigns or mobile-focused advertising, it’s clearly an advantage. Vertical framing assistance was already available in the Mavic 3 Pro, but this leap makes the Mavic 4 Pro a more agile tool for social media-oriented shoots.
Another important change is the addition of a 7-inch tilting touchscreen and a full-size HDMI output. This addresses a common issue with the fragile mini HDMI port of the previous model, improving reliability when connecting to external monitors – especially useful for operators and DOPs during filming.
Omnidirectional obstacle detection + front LiDAR: Ideal for automated flights, although in demanding productions they are often deactivated for creative reasons.
Total weight of 1,063g: Heavier than its predecessor (958g), a negative aspect in environments with strict drone weight regulations.
The Mavic 4 Pro introduces an electronic ND filter that allows you to switch between ND4 and ND64 directly from the controller, without needing to land. This streamlines the workflow, although the real impact on the image will depend on each team’s shooting style.
On the optical side, the following have been added:
70 mm (48 MP)
145 mm (50 MP)
This is a significant improvement over the 12 MP telephoto lens of the Mavic 3 Pro, offering more detail for close-up shots, tourist filming or projects where long-distance image quality is key.
An estimated real flight duration of between 38 and 45 minutes per battery, an improvement on the previous model’s 30–35 minutes. Fewer interruptions and more efficient shooting.
While the Mavic 4 Pro introduces improvements, it also brings changes that require adaptation:
Farewell to Apple ProRes: The new model no longer includes this codec, adopting the professional format XAVC-I 4:2:2 High Profile. It’s lighter, but may require adjustments for those who work exclusively with ProRes.
Reduced internal SSD to 512 GB: Compared to the 1 TB of the Mavic 3 Pro Cine, this reduction may not be critical with good management, but it complicates high-volume shoots if external cards aren’t properly used.

The DJI Mavic 4 Pro is undoubtedly a powerful drone for professional shoots, with notable improvements in vertical recording, optics, battery life and control. However, the absence of Apple ProRes, the reduction in internal storage and the codec change mean significant adjustments in post-production.
At BeeDron Record, as experts in professional drone filming in Spain, we believe this model ushers in a new era for creators working in hybrid, multiplatform environments who want agile results. That said, it will be crucial to assess whether its integration aligns with each production company’s workflow.
